Rolling the Schooner

After working on and off for about a week to build "square wheels" and clean out the boat house, we were ready to roll Schooner Huron Jewel's hull over so we could begin working on the interior.

In this time lapse video we roll over the course of two days, Huron Jewel by hand on square wheels, wooden supports built around the hull, using pry bars, straps, chain hoists (as chain falls), rollers from a B-52 hanger door, a chainsaw, and Bubba Ropes. Bear in mind as you watch this video, Schooner Huron Jewel's hull weighs approximately 11,000 pounds.

We rolled her 60 foot long hull, that is 14 feet 8 inches wide, inside a 30 foot building that is 15 feet 3 inches high. Just enough room for her to tidily roll over.

Thanks to our friends and Bunker Manufacturing for helping us roll her over slowly and steadily just like the instruction manual said.

Congratulations. What a great video! Presumably a great schooner, too.

Thanks Mermie. We are working hard to make every detail the best it can be so it will be a great schooner, and very fast too!
